If OrgNice can no longer access your Google Sheet, it is usually because Google has revoked or expired the access token it previously issued. This is normal behaviour — Google periodically revokes tokens for security reasons, and it does not mean anything is wrong with your account or your data.
Why does Google revoke access?
Google may revoke OrgNice’s access to your Sheet in the following situations:
- Inactivity — Google expires tokens for apps that have not been used for an extended period (typically 6 months).
- Password change — Changing your Google account password invalidates all active tokens.
- Manual revocation — You or someone in your organisation revoked access to OrgNice, either from within OrgNice (Project > Admin > Revoke Data Access) or from Google Account settings.
- Google security review — Google occasionally resets access during internal security reviews of third-party apps.
None of these situations result in any data loss. OrgNice never copies your data — it reads directly from your Google Sheet each time the chart is viewed.
How to restore access
- Open your project in OrgNice and go to Setup.
- Click Edit and then Grant Access (or Re-authorize).
- Follow the Google consent screen to grant OrgNice read-only access to your Sheet again.
Your column mapping, appearance settings, and sharing configuration are all preserved. Re-authorizing only restores the connection to your Google Sheet — nothing else changes.
Will my viewers be affected?
While access is revoked, viewers will see a message that the chart is temporarily unavailable. Once you re-authorize, the chart becomes available again immediately.
Preventing future disruptions
- View your chart regularly. OrgNice monitors project health and will notify you as soon as access is lost.
- If you share OrgNice with colleagues, ensure the project owner’s Google account remains active.
